‘Marketing through the recession’: 22 January 2009

After the initial launch of Creative Jersey in September 08, our inaugural seminar focused on the topical issue on everyone’s lips – The Recession. Taking place at the Royal Yacht Hotel the event hosted two speakers of international calibre, Simon Evans and Julia Woolley.

Simon Evans, cultural entrepreneur and founder of  creative development company ‘Creative Clusters’, spoke of the impact creative industries can have on a region’s economic structure. He also highlighted the importance of creative people working with government in order to fully maximise the potential of creative sector business.

Following Simon was Julia Woolley, who is the South East and Channel Island Advertising Manager from the Financial Times and Head of Business Development for Walpole. Julia focused on need for businesses to continue to market during times of financial downturn; by refocusing on priorities, addressing cost efficiencies and marketing their way through challenging times.

The event was a great success, with over 250 local attendees.

This seminar marks the first of several events that Creative Jersey will be hosting in 2009
