Barnes Publishing was first established in 1992 and traded as Apache Publishing Ltd. Its first publication was The Pocket Guide to Jersey followed by, in the following year, a Jersey Map. The company then developed into a Distribution company mostly in the Tourism market and established distribution boards in hotels for client's brochures.

Having bought a print and design company some years later, BPL ventured into the world of offset litho printing and developed its own graphics department. The printing side of the business was  further enhanced with the addition of digital and large format printers to enable the production of large banners, posters, fine art prints and giclee printing on stretched canvas. To compliment the large format graphics BPL then took on the agency for all types of Exhibition units from pull up to pop up banners. The current publications which are all supported with advertising are The Visitor Guide to Jersey, Jersey Map and Guide to Jersey Weddings.

The Event Management side of the business is now firmly established with two of its main shows being The Festival of Natural Living and The Festival of Arts & Crafts. It also assists with many other local events including the Festival of Motoring and the recent Creative Jersey showcase at the Royal Yacht. With a background in Sales and Marketing, Ian Barnes is able to offer many skills and resources from concept and design through to final print and distribution and the ability to showcase and create a profile for clients products and services, all from one company.
